How Does CBD Vape Make You Feel?

Scott Jones

Let’s talk about feelings. No this isn’t a therapy session or a Drake song. If you’ve never tried CBD, and particularly if you’ve never vaped CBD before, it makes sense that you’d want to know how it’s going to make you feel before giving it a try. With a variety of products available on the market, deciding which one is best for you can be tough. You need to know what to expect from each product so that once you try it, you can decide how well it works for you. One of the most popular ways of adding CBD to your lifestyle is CBD vape. Having a clear understanding of how vaping CBD will make you feel is a great help in making the decision of whether a CBD vape is the right product for you. So, let’s dive in and get in our feelings.

What is CBD?

The first step in understanding how vaping CBD will make you feel is understanding what CBD is, what it does, and how it affects your body. Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of a type of chemical molecules knows as cannabinoids. Cannabinoids occur naturally in a variety of plants, as well as within your own body. The CBD in products like vapes, edibles, oils, and flower is derived from hemp plants. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, these products are federally legal.

Inside of your body there is a system of cannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system plays an important role in maintaining the homeostasis, or balance, of a wide range of internal processes. Everything from pain and body temperature to focus and short-term memory are helped by the ECS’s regulatory function. When one of these processes is stressed or out of balance, your body produces its own cannabinoids (known as endocannabinoids) to help restore that system to the desired state. But sometimes your ECS cannot create enough endocannabinoids or the ones it does produce have trouble binding with the right receptors. When this happens, you can supplement your ECS with other cannabinoids like CBD.

By adding CBD to your routine, you can take the stress off your ECS and help your body’s other systems get back to where they need to be. This is how CBD offers such a wide variety of therapeutic effects. Here at The Green Dragon, we have a wealth of information on CBD and your ECS. If you’d like a more in depth look at either, you can find everything you need here and here.

What is Vape?

Assuming you’ve not been living in a Nepali monastery for the past decade, you’ve probably heard of vaping and most likely have even seen someone puffing a cloud of vapor into air. But what exactly is vaping? Vaping is the heating of a liquid to the point of becoming a vapor for it to be inhaled or heating a dry herb through either conduction or convection to just below the point of combustion so that the oils inside the herb are converted into a vapor that can be inhaled. There’s a wide variety of CBD vape products available, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Types of CBD Vape Products

Disposable CBD Vaporizers / Pens

Disposable pens are self-contained units that you can toss once you’re done. They are pre-charged and pre-filled with CBD concentrate. These are perfect for first time users who are interested in trying CBD vape for the first time without committing to buying a reusable battery pack or a rig and tank set-up. The downside is that they can be a little more expensive than cartridges or vape juice and they create a greater amount of waste than other options.

Disposable CBD Cartridges

Disposable cartridges are containers of CBD concentrate with a mouthpiece that can be attached to a rechargeable battery pack that heats the liquid into vapor. These battery packs can be simple, single-button setups or more complicated packs that can control the level of voltage used. Once the cartridge is empty it can be thrown out and a new one can be attached to the same battery pack. This option is convenient and low-maintenance for people who want a repeatable no-muss, no-fuss vape experience. Disposable cartridges are typically cheaper by volume than disposable vaporizer pens, but they do still create some degree of waste when thrown out.

CBD Vape Juice and Box Mod Vaporizer

For serious vapers, you can buy bottles of CBD concentrate vape juice and a box mod system. A vape rig has the highest level of customizability in terms of voltage, so that you can dial in your preferred level. Different voltages can influence flavor, potency, and density of the vape. You can learn more about box mods and finding the right voltage to vape at here. A box mod system is a more involved set-up than a battery pack with disposable cartridges, so the learning curve is a little steeper than other vape systems.

Dry Herb Vaporizers

A less common form of vaping is dry herb vaping. It requires a specific type of dry herb vaporizer that you load CBD flower into. These herbs are then heated to just below the level of combustion. At this level of heat, the oils are vaporized and can be absorbed by the lungs once inhaled. Purchasing a dry herb vaporizer is an expensive investment but some people prefer the more natural flavor and experience of vaping flower.

The Green Dragon CBD has a wide variety of CBD vape products, as well as CBD flower if you prefer the dry herb route. You can check them out below and find the perfect product for you.

What Does CBD Vape Feel Like?

How vaping CBD makes you feel will likely depend on what needs to be addressed inside your body at the time you vape. Within 15-30 minutes of vaping, you could feel a sense of calm or an increase in focus. You might experience the reduction of a nagging pain or the settling of an upset stomach. Because CBD supplements your ECS, it can have different effects depending on what internal processes need to be brought back into balance. Different dosages can also impact the type of and intensity of the effects. These effects can include:

  • Relaxation
  • Increased focus
  • Pain relief
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Depression relief
  • Sleep aid
  • Digestive support
  • Migraine relief
  • Anti-inflammatory effects

With such a wide range of possible effects, being as aware of those negative symptoms you might be experiencing before you vape CBD will help you to assess how exactly vaping CBD will make you feel. CBD is not a psychoactive substance, so it is not going to make you feel high like ingesting THC from cannabis would. Instead, the effects are going to be more subtle. It’s likely that you will feel multiple effects, but at the time you vape one could be more prominent than another. This is likely because whatever internal system most needed support from the ECS experienced a more dramatic rebalancing than the others.
