What is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol (Can-a-bid-i-ol), is a type of chemical compound called a cannabinoid. It is found in hemp (which is a version of the cannabis plant), along with over a hundred other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other compounds.

It's a naturally occurring substance that's used in products like oils, topicals, capsules, and edibles. Click here to listen to the pronunciation.

Our human bodies contain an endocannabinoid system (ECS) and we use cannabinoids to maintain healthy cells. CBD works through triggering receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Many people use CBD for general health, anxiety, pain, depression, sleep, and more!

According to a report from the World Health Organization, in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. There is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.

CBD products should have less than 0.3% THC to be classified as legal (all of ours are). CBD products won't get you high. The only exceptions are products that contain hemp-derived THC (see our Cannabinoids Guide below).
Versatile Remedy
CBD promotes overall health and wellness and is also used for many health challenges.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS?)

The ECS has two types of receptors, CB1 and CB2.  CB1 receptors are found primarily in the nervous system, connective tissues, and many organs. The CB2 receptors are primarily in the immune system, bones, blood vessels, endocrine glands, and reproductive organs, to name a few. The cannabinoids that are produced trigger these receptors to regulate the body’s systems. Cannabinoids are crucial to regulate all your body’s systems.

Stress, diet, exercise routines, and other environmental factors that are part of our busy daily lives interfere with the ECS functioning properly. It needs help to rebalance. By taking CBD or other cannabinoids, it is triggering your ECS to bring your body back into balance on many fronts.

Endocannabinoid System

Hemp-Derived THC

There are well over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, including Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabigerol (CBG), Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), and many types of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). All our products are federally legal because they come from the hemp version of cannabis, meaning they contain less than 0.3% of the “delta-9” version of THC by dry weight. It’s this percentage that draws the line between cannabis labeled as hemp versus that labeled as marijuana.

Though these products are hemp-derived products and aren’t technically marijuana products, that doesn’t mean they are less potent in terms of psychoactive effects and health benefits. Each form of THC has its own level of potency and unique health benefits. The potency and health benefits will also be different from person to person. Every individual's system is unique and therefore will react differently to different cannabinoids. Finding the correct THC product may take time for each person.

The CBD/THC industry produces many products with different types and blends of hemp-derived THC that do provide psychoactive and psychedelic effects that all fit within the legal requirements of the 2018 Farm Bill.

Overview

There are well over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, including cannabidiol (CBD) and many types of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). All our products are federally legal because they come from the hemp version of cannabis, meaning they contain less than 0.3% of the “delta-9” version of THC.  It’s this percentage that draws the line between cannabis labeled as hemp versus that labeled as marijuana. The CBD industry produces many products with different types of hemp-derived THC that do provide psycho-active effects that all fit within the legal requirements of the 2018 Farm Bill.  Learn more about each one below!

Delta 8 THC

Delta-8 THC is chemically similar to CBD and delta-9 THC. In your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) it binds to the CB1 receptor, just like delta-9-THC. This receptor is responsible for creating the psychoactive effects of THC. Delta-8 generally produces a clear, mental high and ability to concentrate without the paranoia or anxiety that many experience with marijuana. You also should receive the general health benefits of THC including body relaxation, appetite improvement, pain reduction, sleep improvement and more.

Delta 9 THC

Delta-9 THC is the version of THC found in high concentrations in marijuana. It allows users to benefit from the health benefits of THC while also getting that foggy, intoxicating high. Depending on how much is used, it’s possible to experience paranoia or anxiety.  This is the perfect product for people who enjoy marijuana but want a federally legal, chemically identical product. Because we don’t sell marijuana flower, our products include things like edibles that have already “de-curbed” which normally occurs by heat / burning.

Delta 10 THC

Delta-10 THC does provide the effects of THC including a psycho-active high. It has a long history of discovery and is known to be less powerful than delta-8 or delta-9 THC.  It is a popular compound to blend with the other cannabinoids though because it has a naturally more energizing effect due to the way it binds to the CB1 receptors in our brains. If you’re looking for natural sativa effects blended with other THC versions, this is a great alternative.

Delta 11 THC

11-hydroxy-thc (Delta 11)  is how your body processes an edible. Once THC is digested in your body, it turns into HXY11 THC. The Delta 11 THC chemical that’s present in THC is unlocked and made available in a vape form through a proprietary extraction process.

THC-O

THC-O is made by adding acetate to delta-8 or delta-9 THC. The experience that comes with it is different from other THCs. THC-O has been dubbed the “psychedelic cannabinoid” and the “spiritual cannabinoid”. THC-O is 3 times more powerful than Delta 9 THC. People that have used THC-O products have said they experience profound and temporary effects on their state of consciousness.

Live Resin

Live Resin products are made by cutting and freezing the rich parts of the cannabis plant, getting the raw cannabinoids before they are exposed to heat.  Using these at the end of the process then improves quality and potency of the products significantly.

THC-V

THC-V is sometimes called “diet weed” and “weederall” for its purported appetite-curbing and energy-boosting properties. THCV is best used in combination with other THC compounds since it may reduce the intoxicating effects while providing an energy boost.

THC-P

THC-P is 30+ time more potent in binding to your CB1 receptors than traditional delta-9 (D9) THC, creating a more intense and intoxicating euphoric high. The similarity to D9 means you can have paranoia and anxiety, red-eye and other D9 effects. Like D9, the effects are more heavily influenced by terpenes than some other cannabinoids.  Terpenes are the essential oils of plants that define various strains and provide different aromas and specific effects (relaxation, energy, health-specific effects). Due to potency, you will most often see it combined with other THC’s, not stand-alone.

HHC

HHC is a cannabinoid that is super similar to THC in its properties and its effects. A great analogy is that HHC is to THC as margarine is to butter. HHC can be found naturally in the seeds and pollen of hemp, but in such small quantities it must be created synthetically by adding a hydrogen molecule to THC. This hydrogenation process is similar to how margarine (hydrogenated vegetable oil) is made and gives it a longer shelf life. Same with HHC. It is much more resistant to improper storage or heat exposure than THC and CBD, earning it the title of the “apocalypse cannabinoid”. Also, because it is not a version of THC, it falls outside of any THC regulations.

THCjd

THCjd, or tetrahydrocannabioctyl, is a naturally-occurring minor cannabinoid that is known as being 19x stronger and more psychoactive than traditional THC. THCjd is the most psychoactive compound to exist in the hemp plant. Anecdotally, THCjd produces a strong body high and couch-lock sensation that is similar to Indica strains. This high is said to last longer than other THC highs.

THCP-O

THCP-O is also known as Tetrahydrocannabiphorol Acetate. This cannabinoid provides increased strength, longer lasting effects, and uplifting effects. Similar effects of thc-o and thc-p mixed together, highly potent with longer lasting effects. This cannabinoid also has better bioavailability.

THCh

THCh (Tetrahydrocannabihexol) is a rare, but naturally-occurring cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. This cannabinoid is said to be 10 times as potent as Delta 9 THC. It’s important to note, that because of its rarity, your body may not have a tolerance to it and it could present a new kind of high. Take it slow and establish your personal tolerance with this cannabinoid.

Delta 6

Delta 6-THC, aka Delta 6a10a THC, aka D6a, and aka Delta-3 THC. Whatever you want to call it, this cannabinoid has the same molecular structure as D9, with a different way of how they are arranged.

THCa

THCa, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is a precursor to THC. This cannabinoid is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant.

Dosage for CBD and THC is very dependent upon the individual, but we can provide some guidance as to the factors and techniques for you to find the right dosage. There are links to more extensive guides in the descriptions below. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions and be sure to check with your physician if you have any health or medication interaction concerns.

CBD DOSAGE

How much CBD do you need to take daily?  You can review our full CBD Dosage Guide  in our blogs, but here are some basic guidelines.

Dosage is dependent mainly on 3 factors:

  • Your bodyweight
  • Your body chemistry (you might think of this as tolerance, and it could change over time)
  • How significant do you need the effects (strong chronic pain may require more than general health purposes, for example)

We typically recommend 50mg to 100mg per day for an adult depending on these factors and then making modifications after 2 weeks based on the results. It’s very useful to keep a log of how you are feeling to determine if you are getting the effect you want. We are all used to medications that create artificial and sometimes rapid effects in our body versus CBD which is creating balance in your body naturally. That’s why you should take it consistently for two weeks and objectively log the results and then make dosage adjustments.

It’s important to remember that CBD is not addictive, and you really can’t take too much, but you want to take the right amount to get the results you need.

As always, please check with your physician if you have any questions about your health or interaction with other medications.

THC DOSAGE

When it comes to perfect THC dosing, no two people are identical. Because THC affects a person through interaction with their uniquely tuned endocannabinoid system, a variety of biological factors can impact the strength of the dose. These factors include:

  • Body weight
  • Tolerance
  • Metabolism
  • Gender
  • General health
  • Gastrointestinal factors

You can find more detailed information in our full THC Dosage Guide.

Warning: THC and HHC and their derivatives are psycho-active substances. Operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery after using this product is not advised. This product may cause you to fail a THC drug test. You assume full responsibility for all parts related to your purchase and consumption. Use small doses when starting.

QUALITY PRODUCTS AND TESTING

One of our core values is transparency and that includes giving our customers access to only quality products with verified 3rd party lab testing to prove it. To ensure we carry only the top trusted products for you, we go through the following quality processes:

  1. We develop strong partnerships directly with the brands we carry to ensure we are up to date with the latest products, industry trends, and can hold them accountable for the quality of their products. We do not deal with distributors or other sources too far away from the actual manufacturing of the product.
  2. Every product we carry must have a Certificate of Analysis (COA) from a 3rd party lab that verifies the contents and the lack of bad elements such as harmful metals. Each COA is linked in the lab results section of the product itself.
  3. Any defects that are discovered (such as a broken seal) or complaints should be immediately sent to us. We will follow-up directly with the brand to diagnose the root-cause for permanent corrective action.

We take quality seriously in everything we do, and most of all, in the products you use. Please contact us if you have any questions.

CBD Oils & Tinctures

CBD Oil is one of the most classic ways to ingest CBD.  Different base oils are mixed with the CBD isolate or a full or broad-spectrum formula to create different strengths and flavors of CBD Oil. CBD Oil typically comes in either pure CBD isolate form, meaning that it contains only the CBD cannabinoid.  Full-Spectrum CBD Oil contains all of the hemp plant's cannabinoids, allowing the user to benefit from what is called the "entourage effect".  Broad-spectrum oils contain a mixture of cannabinoids but some, such as all THC, may have been taken out.  All of our products have less than 0.3% THC and are federally legal. The term "tincture" refers to CBD in an alcohol-based solution, whereas “oil” is a blend of CBD extract and a carrier oil (MCT or coconut oil).

How to Clean Glass Bongs and Pipes

Step 1: Gather Your Bong Cleaner and Start Prep

First and foremost, you’ll need to make sure you have what you need for a thorough cleaning. We recommend using 91-99% isopropyl alcohol for the best results. You’ll also want to grab a plastic bag, your bong, and a pair of gloves, if you’d like.

Step 2: Do a Water Rinse

Start out by doing a simple rinse of your bong with some warm water. Add some to the inside of your bong and give it a few gentle shakes to distribute the water around.

Empty the water out before you move on, then set your bong inside of the plastic bag you grabbed earlier.

Step 3: Add Some Salt and Alcohol

Place your bagged bong in the sink, then pour in your isopropyl alcohol to a point that’s about half of the usual amount of water you’d add in to smoke.

Next, add some coarse salt through the mouthpiece (the part you place your lips on to inhale) and into the bong.

Step 4: Get Shakin’

Carefully shake the salt and alcohol mixture in your bong to ensure it gets into all the nooks and crannies.

Step 5: Let it Soak

After you’ve done some shaking, allow your bong to sit and soak for around 30 minutes or so.

Step 6: Empty, Rinse, and Repeat

Step 7: Dispose of Your Bong Bag

Step 3: Light It

Place your lips at the top of the water pipe’s tube and light the flower in the bowl. Inhale gently and slowly. You’ll hear the water start to bubble and you may be able to see vapor start to fill the water pipe’s tube.

Step 4: Remove the Bowl & Inhale

Carefully remove the bowl from the carb to allow air to flow into the water pipe’s base and up into the tube. Now, all you have to do is inhale.

What is CBG?

CBG is a cannabinoid precursor to the more familiar cannabinoids THCa, CBD, and THC, among others. It is often referred to as the “Mother of All Cannabinoids.” There is anecdotal evidence that smoking these specific high-CBG strains can create feelings of euphoria, upliftment, mental and visual clarity, focus, and calmness. CBG is also potentially effective in acting as a buffer to the paranoia that is often experienced by those using high-THC products.

How can CBD improve my gut health and therefore boost immunity?

CBD can help to reduce inflammation in the gut. Because the gut hosts many immune system cells and tissues, a healthy gut is directly connected to strong immunity.

CBD Benefits

Can I still eat my CBD gummies if they melt?

Technically…. Yes, BUT some of the benefits of the gummies will deteriorate and with your gummies turning into one giant gummy glob, it would be hard to measure out dosage per serving.

If your gummies do melt, the best thing for you to do is to toss and replace them. The melting of CBD gummies will change the chemical composition of the cannabinoids, which means the benefits you are looking for from them will significantly decrease. Keep your gummies safe and properly stored to keep the full benefits of the CBD product.

Is it safe to mix CBD and alcohol?

In short, yes. You can mix CBD and alcohol. You can take CBD before drinking or after. You can also put CBD into your alcoholic drinks. Just make sure you know how your body reacts to both separately and drink responsibly.

What is THC-O?

THC-O is a hemp-derived synthetic compound, also known as THC-O acetate. It is quickly gaining in popularity due to its legality, but also its potency. THC-O is made by adding a highly-flammable compound called acetic anhydride to THC molecules. As with most up-and-coming cannabinoids, hemp-derived products, and the like, research is truly lacking.

Are shrooms legal to use?

Shrooms that contain psilocybin are considered federally illegal, at least in the U.S., because psilocybin itself is a Schedule I Controlled Substance. This means that, in the eyes of the federal government, psilocybin has a high potential for misuse, no accepted medical uses, and can only be safely used under the supervision of a medical professional.

Whether or not this classification of shrooms is really fair is up to you, but there are fortunately other options for those looking to experiment without breaking the law. Remember our friend Amanita muscaria, the classic red-and-white toadstool mushroom? Its active ingredients are not controlled substances, which means they are not subject to the same restrictions and legal penalties.
