What is Delta 10 THC?
It seems like there is ALWAYS something new to learn in the CBD community. Today’s topic? Delta 10! Why yes, there is another THC compound that could be on the rise to add to Delta 8 and Delta 9. There is still a great deal of research to uncover regarding the topic of Delta 10. We’re here to discuss everything that we know about Delta 10 from the CBD community and predictions on how it may enter the market.
What is Delta 10 THC?
Delta 10 THC is another of the hundreds of cannabinoids that are naturally-occurring in hemp and cannabis plants. Just like Delta 8, this is more commonly found in a laboratory and is produced by extracting it from plant material or through isomerization. Isomerization is a chemical process (remember chem class?) when a molecule or ion transforms into a different chemical structure. It appears that Delta 10 was discovered by accident in a laboratory in California.
Fusion Farms, a company based out of Adelanto, CA, bought outdoor flower to turn into concentrates. California is subject to wildfires, and it appeared that the flower that Fusion Farms purchased was contaminated with a fire retardant. Fusion Farms didn’t know about this contamination at the time and moved forward with extraction. It wasn’t until the distillation process that the Fusion Farms team noticed that something was different! Crystals began to form that all had a different structure compared to any previous cannabinoid crystal. After months of testing, they discovered it was another cannabinoid. D10 is an artificial cannabinoid formed from the conversion of D9 or other cannabinoids using a catalyst. It is so new to the scene that it often isn’t even properly identified in laboratories and can “misidentify the compound for CBC or CBL using standard High-Performance liquid Chromatography methods” according to ACS Laboratory.
What are the Effects of Delta 10 THC?
At this point, everything that can be guessed about the effects of Delta 10 THC is purely speculation. This is a brand new cannabinoid and there has been little to no lab testing or experiments. Many assume that the effects will be similar to the effects of other cannabinoids. All cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system working with the body's CB1 and CB2 receptors. The way that these cannabinoids interact with the ECS system can provide people relief from a variety of mental and physical health issues. Delta 8 and Delta 9 also have the added effect of providing a euphoric and mental high. However, other cannabinoids like CBD do not cause this head high and solely have health effects.
Since slight differences occur from cannabinoid to cannabinoid, it can’t be completely predicted what the effects will be of Delta 10 THC. However, it can be inferred that Delta 10 will be less psychoactive than both Delta 9 and Delta 8. There has been one study conducted on pigeons to see the “high” from Delta 10 and if it’s comparable to other cannabinoids. In this study, they concluded that the euphoria that comes from Delta 9 is more potent than the “high” from Delta 10. Until the laws open up and more scientists can conduct experiments, it will take time to uncover the effects of Delta 10 THC. We’ll update you on our findings as we learn more!
Can Delta 10 Get You High?
The next question after the effects is naturally “will this get me high?” In short, the answer is yes. However, it may not be the same as the high caused by Delta 8 and/or Delta 9. According to David Reckles from Private Label Hemp Lab, “he would compare Delta 10 to a Sativa in terms of its effects. Delta 10 is uplifting and perfect for daytime use.” David even goes on to say that he thinks that “Delta 10 is going to be insanely popular because it offers euphoria and increased focus, without the paranoia and anxiety some users report from Delta 9.”
What’s Next?
Currently, there are no Delta 10 products on the market. You may be eager to try out this new and exciting product. However, it’s important to wait and confirm that you are buying from a brand that you can trust. This is even more important with Delta 10 than even a CBD flower. If it is concocted in a laboratory, you need to be able to trust that there aren’t any harmful chemicals or pesticides included in the product. Not to mention, ensuring that it doesn’t include any other types of cannabinoids to create an experience that you are not looking for while consuming. With that said, always only purchase products that provide third-party testing you can trust. Here at The Green Dragon CBD, we only carry brands that are transparent with lab-testing and are trusted in the community.
