Does CBD Help With Energy and Focus?

Our energy and focus are influenced by many different things. Sleep, stress, diet, medicines, and many other factors contribute to our energy levels and ability to focus. Most of us wake up in the morning and the first thing we grab is coffee or a caffeinated drink. While caffeine is the most popular option, too much caffeine can sometimes leave us too jittery. Which is why it is not always the best option. Caffeine can also contribute to a lack of sleep which may even lower your energy and focus levels. Can CBD help this vicious cycle? Read on to find out!


CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound that is found naturally in hemp plants that have balancing effects on the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). CBD works within the endocannabinoid system, specifically with the C1 and C2 receptors to help keep the overall health of the body in balance. The endocannabinoid system helps maintain the healthy functions of your nervous system, brain, immune system and so much more. CBD has many benefits, including reducing anxiety and depression, aiding in sleep, anti-inflammatory properties, and more. Benefits can be different for everyone based on age, gender, weight, genetics and other factors, even what you’ve eaten can affect how CBD benefits you.

CBD products can be an Isolate, Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum. Isolate is just CBD. Broad Spectrum is when the CBD contains some, but not all, of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that are found in the cannabis plant. Broad Spectrum CBD doesn’t contain any THC, but you can still benefit from the entourage effect. The entourage effect simply means that all cannabinoids are working together to create a more effective and beneficial experience for the user. Full Spectrum CBD is often considered to be more effective than other forms. This is because Full Spectrum CBD contains all cannabinoids, including THC, producing the entourage effect. 


Energy and focus go hand-in-hand. If you don’t have energy, it makes it near impossible to focus. As you are focusing, your brain is using a lot of energy, so you are depleting it. At the time of writing this article (March 2022), there is little evidence and research that says, with 100% accuracy, that CBD can directly improve energy levels and focus. But that’s not the way we will look at it for this article.

  • Lack of sleep
  • High stress
  • Poor diet
  • Bad habits (i.e. smoking, drinking, etc.)

The thing about CBD, you can use it to combat these negative factors that are affecting those levels. In addition to CBD, some CBD products contain other ingredients that can help improve your energy and focus, such as terpenes. CBD oil is the most popular form to take. CBD oil products have a dropper that makes dosing more accurate than other forms. The easiest way is to just sublingually take the oil  while some  people do choose to add it to a drink just know doing that you do risk losing some of your dose. There are also CBD capsules which are an easy and accurate way to take your dose as well. It’s also a more discreet option which some like. Capsules do have a delayed reaction because they have to go through digestion, during which they lose some of their potency.

Topicals come in many different forms creams, balms, lotions, roll ons, patches and even bath bombs. The topicals target specific areas of your body and are usually enhanced with different ingredients such as menthol for extra relief. 

CBD Edibles

CBD edibles are another popular option for taking your daily dose of CBD. Edibles are like capsules in the way that they take longer to kick in since they have to go through our digestive system. Smoking CBD, whether it be flower or vape, is another option. This is the most effective and fast-acting way to receive the benefits of your CBD.   • Use caffeine, in moderation
  • Get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily
  • Get outside at least 2 hours per week
  • Use products with Ashwagandha
  • Eat well, with enough fruits and vegetables
  • Drink enough water based on your weight and activity level
  • Vitamins
  • THC products such as THC-V


Will CBD get me high?

No – CBD will not get you high. THC is the cannabinoid that is responsible for making you feel high because of its psycho-intoxicating properties. Even full-spectrum products, that contain trace amounts of THC, will not make you feel high.

Will I pass a drug test?

Maybe – if you are using CBD isolate or broad spectrum products, you will pass a drug test. Most drug tests are only created to seek out THC. Full spectrum CBD does have trace amounts of THC and may make you fail a drug test.

Are there certain products for energy and focus?

Yes – There are some products may have added ingredients that could help with energy and focus, such as caffeine. Overall, CBD will help negate the negative factors that are contributing to your lack of energy and focus.
